An Unfinished Poem
You are an unfinished poem

Stuck in my heart,

Appearing on the horizon

Like an unanswered question

Simple as one-two-three,

Further from reality

But as real as flesh on bone

The lively echo of your smile

Keeps me thinking,

What's left incomplete

Is sometimes just as sweet

As the holy "amen"

At the end of a silent prayer

What a thoughtful, creative poem, Lisa. I like the thought of how someone can be an unfinished poem, sort of like someone you met and you like them and then you are not sure where it’s going. Really like line ‘Simple as one-two-three, Further from reality’. People may seem friendly at first and you get along but it can be hard to get to their core and get to know them deeply…and you pray to get to know them. Wonderful ending. Hope you are doing well😊💕

Thank you so much, Mabel. So many unfinished relationships in life. Definitely. It takes a long time to truly know someone. There are some exceptions though. I can think of a few that I knew the moment I met them. Nice to see you, Mabel! 🙂

I like the thought of someone being an unfinished poem. I suppose we all are as we are all a work in progress.

Such a powerful poem Lisa! It feels like we can relate to it in different ways, from different perspectives and it’s what makes it so interesting!

So succinct yet so meaningful! I love the realism within this poem Lisa… it says so much about memories, about people and relationships, which refuse to go out of lives. Each one of us is unfinished, as we grow with every passing moment! What a wonderful theme! Thanks for the inspiration dear friend.

Thank you so much, Balroop 🙂 It’s so true we are unfinished and so are some relationships. So happy this was inspiring to you. xx

    WELL, THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL!
ARE WE SPEAKING ABOUT AN OLD BOYFRIEND HERE?
I HAD TO READ IT TWICE!!
    OR COULD BE YOURSELF?
TELL ME WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS WERE PLEASE……….XXX

Thank you, LA CONTESSA. I think the old boyfriend inspired this. But the more I revised it I found it could have meaning for friendships or other relationships and as you mentioned–SELF. I feel that, too. We are never ‘complete’ or finished as we are a work in progress. We may see the horizon and we may have to pray. 🙂
