I’m proud to announce that I have been nominated by the lovely Chrys Fey of Write With Fey, for the Very Inspirational Blogger Award! Yes, little old me. Thank you Chrys for the award and the inspiration you give to me every week on your blog!
The Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link to their blog.
2. Display the award logo.
3. Nominate 15 other bloggers (more or less) and provide a link where they may be found.
4. Go to their blog, leave a comment to let them know they have been nominated.
5. Mention three things that inspired you the most during the past few weeks (I mention 5 things)
Inspiring Bloggers I’m nominating for Very Inspirational Blogger Award:
5. Jennifer at The Bloggess-this blog gets 500 comments per post so if I were to stop over there and leave her a comment that I nominated her for inspiring blogger award I doubt she would notice. You might find her blog inspiring if you haven’t already been over.
There are so many wonderful bloggers. In fact all of you who come here are amazing yet I know not everyone likes to get these awards. If I haven’t mentioned you it’s probably because I’ve nominated you in the past. Sometimes I like to keep my favorite sites a secret. 🙂
Five Things inspiring me right now;
1. Music by Sia
Her latest video Elastic Heart has many scratching their heads. I don’t really get it but I can admire the dancing. Don’t read too much into the video but read the words to the song. Sia performed this song on SNL with two female dancers. It gave the song a different spin.
Elastic Heart: It’s the lyrics that really have an impact:
“And another one bites the dust
Oh why can I not conquer love
And I might have thought that we were one
Wanted to fight this war without weapons
And I wanted it, I wanted it bad
But there were so many red flags
Now another one bites the dust
Yeah let’s be clear, I’ll trust no one
You did not break me
I’m still fighting for peace
[Chorus]
I’ve got thick skin and an elastic heart
But your blade it might be too sharp
I’m like a rubberband until you pull too hard
I may snap and I move fast
But you won’t see me fall apart
‘Cos I’ve got an elastic heart
And I will stay up through the night
Let’s be clear, won’t close my eyes
And I know that I can survive
I’ll walk through fire to save my life
And I want it, I want my life so bad
I’m doing everything I can
Then another one bites the dust
It’s hard to lose a chosen one
You did not break me
I’m still fighting for peace”
3. #1000Voices Speak For Compassion-Thanks to Lizzi Rogers of Considerings-Life’s Silver Linings this movement began in January and anyone can join.
Lizzi’s words
“with all the awfulness which is in the headlines and in dark corners of the unreported world, but there seem to be a large number of people for whom the time has come when they’ve had ENOUGH. And so they’re going to do something about it: on February 20th, they (we) are going to join our voices together, 1000+ strong, and FLOOD the Blogosphere with compassion.”
You can join too, by posting a blog about compassion, writing for this site if you don’t have a blog, or join the facebook page for updates and links to all the blogs participating in #1000Voices
4. Brain Pickings Weekly-I am inspired every Sunday when Brain Pickings arrives in my in box. It’s full of essays from famous writers. Each week one is featured and it goes very well with a cup of coffee.
5. Nature-when all else fails, the beach is where I gather up some much needed inspiration.
Awwww, you look so cute/cozy in that picture 🙂 The beach is always an endless source of inspiration for me, too.
Oh, I just saw that video. Wow. That Sia really writes some emotional lyrics and creates some head-scratching but beautifully orchestrated videos. Maybe I’m wrong in my interpretation of it, but seems Shia can’t live without her and since she’s free to roam, he was left to die in the cage.
Loved the dancing and the feels. Thanks for sharing. Hope all is well with you and that you had a nice weekend/Valentine’s Day!
Thanks, Charlotte. I LOVE the beach, too 🙂 Ooooh, great interpretation on the video. She tries to pull him out at the end…which is kind of funny. I love the lyrics! I think the video may have been better with an older dancer? Although that little dancer is amazing. Thanks for stopping over!
You’re so very welcome for the nomination! It’s so funny that we both chose Sia’s music as one of our inspirations. My featured song was Chandelier, but I love Elastic Heart too! Yesterday, I saw the video for the first time and was blown away! Shia was amazing, and of course Maddie and wonderful! At the end, I had tears in my eyes.
Hi Chrys, yes, Sia’s songs are not only catchy but her lyrics are very moving. Did you see her perform Chandelier on the Grammys? OMG, Kristen Wiig danced and was equally amazing. It’s always great to find music to inspire. Thanks, Chrys for the award 🙂
I did see her performance on the Grammys last night! That was the only reason why I was watching it, and of course it had to be near the end of the show. lol
Nature is my go-to source of inspiration. We had an incredible sunset on Friday evening to start the weekend. Today it was nearly 70 degrees, so we had lunch outside by the marsh and saw dolphins swimming by. It was just what this anxious girl’s heart needed today! 🙂
I love the idea for 1000 voices speak for compassion. This will be very inspiring!
Congratulations on the award, Lisa. You deserve it. I love the picture of you on the beach. You look like you have such a kindred spirit=)

What an awesome lineup of bloggers! I’m one of those music listeners who thrives on the rhythm and beat of songs versus the actual words most of the time. There are many songs that the words are perfect as well. That song is awesome! Your friendship and support inspire me always, Lisa. And btw…you are the most attractive 29 old blogger friend I will ever know, my friend (your pic above! Yowsah…great pic! 🙂
