Catch Up Over Coffee

#chattyblogs at lisathomsonliveHello Escapees, want to catch up over coffee? That’s one of my favorite things to do with friends. Even though we can’t do it literally, we can do it virtually here at the blog. Thanks to Shantala over at Shanayatales, for starting this Catch Up Over Coffee theme.  It’s just an informal chat designed to put a more personal slant on the blog.

I think after all that’s been going on it’s nice to take a deep breath and just talk. Shoot the breeze. So, grab your cup a joe. (Ironically, I wrote a similar post almost exactly a year ago Hello! Come On In, I’ll Put Coffee On I guess Shantala and I think alike).

if your life is a book

“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”
Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel
If your life is a book, what chapter are you in? Is your ‘life book’ a drama, mystery, comedy, erotic, classic or young adult read?

I’m not sure what chapter I’m in but I hope it’s somewhere in the middle. The saggy middle. That’s the part of the story where we have to continue the suspense and rising action or we’ll get bored and abandon the book. How many chapters will our life even contain? While we don’t know the answer to this, an unknown ending is what keeps us moving forward.

enchanted aprilIn 1922, author Elizabeth von Armin’s novel Enchanted April was published. Surprising Elizabeth as much as anyone else, it took the book world by storm. Hailed as a “delicious confection” capable of “working its magic on all”. The story is so good that it was made into a film 70 plus years later!

The plot? Four women want to escape their unhappy marriages, at least for a while. They find themselves in Italy…

what does our stuff sayI had this thought the other night. If I died tomorrow, what would people find at my house apartment and what would that stuff say about me?  I know, it’s kind of a weird thought but sometimes I look around and wonder, among all my things which are a) the most valuable and

Divorce Book Giveaway

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago I was moving furniture around and remembered that I had stored many of my divorce self help books in a trunk I was using as a coffee table.  Ya, I’m a little bohemian.  When I bought these books on Amazon I was hungry for help with my situation. Books are like therapy, right?

Co-parenting, money management, alienation and did I mention co-parenting? Those were just a few of the areas I needed help with.  They’re all in good

I originally wrote this as a guest writer.  The site owner pulled it off her site when she was warned by Google that it is considered p*rn.   It’s hardly p*rn. With the trailer for the film version of the 50 Shades book series released, I thought it timely to share this post with you.
