A little season of love for you. I wrote this one last summer. At that time I wasn’t sharing my poetry but today seems like a perfect day to share this one…
Flowers dipping Under rain drops Late morning star Moonlit tide Takes me out too far Church bells sing Berries beckon Kiss the ghost Of the boy of summer Afternoon quiet The crow’s mournful Caw, caw, caw They’ve left me alone A hedonist seeking The bounty of the season Without rhyme An abundance of reason Sun everlasting A star’s refrain Skip the stones My flesh bruised Not yet bitten Season of love is here Soon gone not wasted On a tear of loss With juicy haste

August 6, 2020 at 8:07 amYour poetry is like your art (and poetry is art…so that makes perfect sense). I adore both.

Of the boy of summer
Love, love, love that!

July 29, 2020 at 3:42 amDidn’t know you wrote poetry so elegantly, Lisa. It speaks to me of the little things that make us happy during the summer…like nice sounds in the distance, juicy fruits and the sun shining ever so brightly. A season to go out and about and enjoy ourselves. I do think you captured the season of love very well. It’s often an up and down kind of experience, with ups and downs, and we always yearn more of it.

July 25, 2020 at 10:55 amNice poem (but I am haunted by the song/poem by Billie Holiday, “Strange Fruit”, while reading James Cone’s “The Cross and the Lynching Tree” and for some reason as I read this, the other came back to my mind)

July 25, 2020 at 12:36 pmThanks, Jeff. Interesting. I guess because you were recently reading those, you correlated this? I think that’s what is so fascinating about poetry, to each his own interpretation. To me (and I really shouldn’t dissect my own poem as that is boring) this is about longing, yearning for something we don’t yet understand.

July 22, 2020 at 9:52 amLovely thoughts Lisa. Season of love never ends if it is reciprocated well, it deepens with time just like old wine. 🙂 I like your poetry. Keep writing.
