Sit down, relax and pour yourself a glass of vino.

You may recall, that I mentioned The Wine Diaries-Musings On Divorce Paired With Wine would be published in late autumn 2018. Well, that hasn’t happened. It isn’t because of procrastination so much as letting the manuscript mellow along with further wine tasting. Essentially, it’s a little wine with whine…

My pairings must correlate with each topic and thus requires a great deal of tasting. Insert *drinking* emoji here.

What's Happening With The Wine Diaries?
Coming Soon! Download a sample for free.

Jokes aside, I’m very close to sending it to my editor. I have added some new material to the original manuscript which I had to let mellow and make further edits to.

I wanted to give you, my loyal subscribers, a chance to win a free copy when it is officially published. I will give you the details very soon.

One of the constant rules of self-publishing is to NOT RUSH IT. Yet, I can see how this happens. As Indie authors, we have complete control over every aspect of our writing, publishing and promotions. This can be wonderful but it also involves a great deal of decision making. We can easily fall into the trap of feeling pressured to publish in order to keep up with the market changes and to stay relevant.

This is a mistake.

It has taken restraint for me to hold back my manuscript and decide to continue adding new material rather than publish it as is. I have learned to format both for paper back and e-books, and consider myself fairly literate 😛 , therefore I’m easily tempted to feel a manuscript is ready before it’s time.

I haven’t rushed any of my other books so I refuse to rush this one either.

What Can You Expect From the Wine Diaries?

This book is sure to please those who love to read someone else’s diary. If you or someone you love is navigating divorce or any devastating life change, this collection is bound to comfort and satisfy. With each entry paired with a wine suggestion, this book is sure to be thirst quenching for both the heart and the palate.

This book is a very personal journey covering my experiences before, during and after my divorce. Any woman is bound to relate to the anecdotes and find comfort in knowing they’re not alone. Furthermore, these diary entries are sure to entertain, make you laugh, cry and nod your head and say “Me, too.”

    Hi Lisa
Someone once emailed a very successful writer and asked what was their advice for starting to write a novel. They received a one-word reply:
    “Start”
    🙂
    Kind regards

Oh, I am excited for this one! And I’ve never even been divorced. lol

I do enjoy a small glass of wine while thinking about life, etc. I love moscato and fruit-froward, sweet reds. And recently I had my first taste of sake. Yum. I wouldn’t mind having some sake while musing about life’s challenges. 😉

Good to hear, Chrys! I don’t mind sweeter reds but prefer dry whites 😀 Oh, sake…haven’t had any for quite some time. Enjoy!!

This book sounds sooooo wonderful and I’m really anxious to read it, Lisa!

I am SO with you on feeling that urgency to publish and forcing yourself to go slow and never rush the editing and fine tuning and polishing and re-working and re-writing process! Do you know that I have been working on the book I am STILL in edits on, for over 3 years? I am sooo glad I didn’t publish it last year- instead, I left it to sit all alone in my word doc files, because I just wasn’t at peace with it. I took a long break and then after several months, I picked it up again and got to re-working pretty much the entire thing. Ha! I am starting to feel excited and confident that THIS version of the book is worth publishing.

I love that you are taking your time and truly invested in your newest piece of art that will come when it’s good and ready to be out in the world. I’m sure it will be an incredible source of supportive comfort to many, Lisa.

Thank you, Chris! I agree that a book deserves that marinating time.

Leaving your book for months and then coming back is perfect, Chris. It gives you more perspective. I can’t wait to hear more about it! I’m so excited you’re close to publishing a NEW book!! Yay. Your first one was so wonderful and such an amazing resource for women recovering from health crisis or issue.

Thanks so much for your ongoing encouragement. 😀 xo

This is fantastic Lisa! I am so happy for you and I cannot wait for the final copy so I can read it and add it to your other book on my shelf! I’m also glad that you did not rush into things. A good book takes time and I can tell already that you are pouring everything into it. It’s going to be wonderful. I know it. xoxo

Congrats on your upcoming book, Lisa. Sounds like you’ve put in heaps of time and effort, and now it’s all paying off. So agree we shouldn’t rush writing our drafts and books. All good things take time, and if we’re passionate enough about our work, we will work hard at it and take as long as we need. That’s how I’m approaching my first book…no rush, take as long as I like 🙂

That’s great you didn’t rush into publishing, letting it sit and adding more content, etc. I’m sure it’s much, much better for it! Congrats. 🙂

Yes, I think so. It’s easy to feel things are ready when they could use more time to age, just like a fine wine 😁

I’m a big fan of Malbec paired with sea salt dark chocolate. I like thin-rimmed wine glasses as well, though right now I’m on a Hurricane kick. The original was made with only dark run, passion fruit syrup, and lemon or lime juice.

    • lisa

      February 22, 2019 at 5:25 am

Jeri, that combination sounds delicious. Malbec is a very nice red and many are reasonably priced, too. I had a Hurricane while in New Orleans and quite enjoyed it.

    I love it already Lisa!
I am not a wine lover but I am sure that with the perfect tea it’ll still be enjoyable.
Well done and you are right for taking your time.. No pressure really.
    Much love to you

    • lisa

      February 14, 2019 at 5:42 pm

Oh, yes tea could work well too. It’s so comforting. I don’t drink as much tea in the summer but I love it the rest of the year. Thank you, Marie xx!

Ooh, I’m getting tingles just thinking about it. I’ll get a copy for me and I have many friends who could use it.. many, many.

As for wine, I never had the taste for it. I wish I did.

    • lisa

      February 14, 2019 at 5:41 pm

Thanks, Tamara. So nice that you have friends that could use this book. P.s. Do you prefer paper back? I’m just curious how many peeps still prefer the physical book over digital. Oooooh, you haven’t acquired a taste for it? You need a drink with sparkles in it!

Wine and whine definitely bring cheers Lisa! Congratulations dear friend, I am sure Wine Diaries would comfort many hearts. Looking forward to the release of your latest book. I like how you let it ferment before offering it to your readers, ‘aging process’ is said to make good wine. Wishing you all the success.

    • lisa

      February 14, 2019 at 5:39 pm

Thank you so much, Balroop. 🙂 Yes, the fermentation is important in both writing and wine making.

Brilliant title. I think the key to anything in life is more wine and less of that something else. LOL

    More wine. Less divorce.

    More wine. Less family drama.

    More wine. Less..

Great job on moving this closer to publication!

    • lisa

      February 14, 2019 at 5:39 pm

😀 Thank you, Vishnu. I couldn’t agree more about the more wine less divorce—LOL.
