It’s time for Colleen’s photo prompt poetry challenge. I actually got to choose the photo for this challenge. I’m excited to see what everyone has written.
I have chosen (tried) to write a Haibun. Specifically an Idyll which is one paragraph and one haiku.
He hadn’t shown yet today atop the red dome of erect agaricus bisporus. She flared her disgruntled wings. Maybe her mother was right when she said his chin was bloated and his skin warty. But when he warmed her and admired her pretty crown, he showed just how gentle he could be. Now she heard his familiar call, “Rib bit” said he. But she fluttered in dismay. He had a lot of nerve to show such glee while keeping her waiting beneath the canopy.
He hadn’t wings
Errant prince smir-croaked
Morphed to boy
Well, I hope this little poem made you smile today. It made me laugh.

September 18, 2020 at 2:01 pmGreat choice of pictures, Lisa. Your humorous Haiban elevated my day. Poor warty old wingless boy. 🙂 One admirer down the tubes. 🙂
