Welcome to a new decade, my friends. This whole new year thing kind of snuck up on me. I know I say that every year but when it hit me upside the head that a whole new decade was starting…well, I began to question my goals here at the blog.
“And what does January hold? Clean account books. Bare diaries. Three hundred and sixty-five new days, neatly parceled into weeks, months, seasons. A chunk of time, of life…those first few notes like an orchestra tuning up before the play begins.” ~ Phyllis Nicholson from Country Bouquet (1947)
Thinking on it, not only have I been blogging for almost nine years (the majority of the last decade) but this whole journey began even before that. 2005, to be precise, is when I separated from my husband. It seems like eons ago—because it was eons ago. Fifteen years.
So, even though I did not publish my first book until 2012 and began this blog in 2011, that was several years after I first separated. But the divorce itself did not conclude until fall, 2012. That gives you an idea how long it dragged.
All that said, with a new decade in front of me, I know one thing for sure. I am done blogging about divorce…especially my own divorce.
My newly published book, The Wine Diaries is my final book on the topic. I’m not sure I knew that when I was editing it. While all the old stories from the past were finding new life in a book, I was moving on into my new chapter.
Instead I will be focusing my blog on writing and books; fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. I have several manuscripts awaiting my focus and attention, and I hope to share snippets of those WIPS here at the blog.
In addition I hope to share more of my favorite books, my reviews and other authors’ work and reviews. I may also share my art and other life topics that may be of interest. I view it as a refreshing beginning and I hope you will too. I shall call it “Words On My Sleeve”.
My divorce topics will remain on the site. Articles and blog archives will remain for those that are still seeking divorce support.
In the meantime, I will be finding my new writing wheels. I may surprise myself along with you, my dear and loyal readers. As you all know, I love to review movies and television shows and I don’t see that changing. So, it will be the same old me, just fresher.
Me then…
Me now…
This whole new decade will bring a new ‘look’ and design to my site. But that will not be an immediate priority.
Thanks for coming along with me on this ride, my friends. Let’s celebrate that my divorce is truly over.
I’m grateful for every experience and what it and they have taught me. I’m grateful I have been able to inspire and share those divorce lessons and tips with you. If I have helped one person, I have helped a million in my heart.

January 18, 2020 at 7:53 amLisa, that sounds like the longest most drawn-out divorce timeline EVER. Oh my gosh, I’m sure that was so painful and exhausting. I’m SO excited that you are shifting your goals to new topics and creative avenues that will be so fulfilling for YOU and for US!! I also love that you feel at peace with closing that chapter of writing and my gosh, you helped so many people through your mission to encourage women who have experienced similar pain and life-changes. What a productive and purposeful path to celebrate as you move forward onto a new one!
I can’t wait to see it all unfold… You have so many gifts to offer and I’m thrilled for you!

January 18, 2020 at 5:21 pmChris, it’s almost insane when I look back on it—luckily I am still sane. Haha. YES, I’m feeling so good about this new focus. And so good about moving on while I believe my mission has been accomplished. Thank you so much for your ongoing support and kind words! xx

January 10, 2020 at 3:56 amHappy New Year friend!
I’ve been blogging for just as long I believe! Man this time has gone by so incredibly fast it is unreal. You look absolutely gorgeous. You really do. My blog has always been a mish mosh of whatever is going on in my life -whatever strikes and I feel would be worthwhile for people to read or what I feel good about putting out there. It truly is a reflection of my brain. Squirrrrrrel! HAHA.
I am so glad to have met you on this journey and I am excited to see what 2020 brings for you and to this space. xoxo

January 6, 2020 at 5:24 amWow this is a big change Lisa! And I am so happy for you.
What a journey!
I do start talking less about my own divorce and pain in general. I’d rather focus on what I am learning and what’s good about life. This is a shift and I am happy with it.
There is a time for every word and feeling.
Looking forward reading all your news and see how the new year unfold for you.
Stay blessed Lisa.

January 6, 2020 at 9:01 amHi Marie, yes it is time for a change. The journey has been worthwhile. Good for you, Marie. This: “I’d rather focus on what I am learning and what’s good about life.” I agree. That’s exactly what we should all be doing 🙂
