I can’t believe it. It’s my tenth Blog-giversary! Ten years of blogging here at lisathomsonlive. Notice how the word ‘giver’ is found in this term bloggiversary. It’s fitting, isn’t it? We bloggers give a ton. Words, ideas, solutions, time…Time does fly while you’re having fun. Best of all, fellow bloggers who have become my online friends have enriched this whole blogging thing.
Many changes have evolved here. Starting out as a divorce blog and morphing into a more creative space, has truly reflected my own journey. I was absolutely passionate about divorce topics (of which I covered a wide variety). If you are here for that reason, simply click on DIVORCE in the tag cloud in the side bar and BOOM, you will have a multitude of divorce subjects to choose from. A reminder that I have three divorce books published, too. So there’s no shortage of resources for divorcees beginning the process now.
Below: my very first Instagram profile pic taken ten years ago, my daughter and I. Now she’s married and in nursing school. Here she was only a Hey Nineteen and I was that much younger, too.
Beginning in 2020, with a new decade upon us, I changed my blog name from ‘The Great Escape’ to ‘Words on My Sleeve’. I also added poetry to my blog. With that, I learned all about Haiku from Colleen Chesebro’s poetry challenges. That’s something I would love to get back into. Poetry is a place I go when I need to play with words. I’m often surprised with the results (good or bad).
Recently I began selling my art here at the shop. That was a big step for me as I’ve never put my work ‘out there’ ever before. It made sense though, as I already have an online shop, why not add my paintings? Who knows where life will take you?
Also, there is another book, my fifth, waiting to publish. I’m shelving it for now, even after having had it professionally edited. I will share an excerpt or two here eventually. I’d like to get your feedback on it. Meantime, here is a sneak peek of my cover;
I think our website and blog represent not only our writing style, but our personality and progression in our life. It’s a digital journal of sorts. Speaking of journals, as another one of my passions, I may sell my “bag lady” journals here as well. More on that to come. Hey, I’m starting a whole new decade here might as well keep changing.
Through 10 years, 2 moves, 1 fire, 1 pandemic, and lots or sunshine and rain —I’m still here!
Enough about me. How has your online presence changed in the last ten years? Do you blog? What is your favorite social media platform, these days? Let’s chat.

November 1, 2021 at 8:27 amHAPPY TEN YEARS! Whoa! (and I love the Steely Dan reference)
I have blogged 11 years, since Scarlet was a wee tot. And now.. there’s Des and Rider and baby You Know Who. Plus, a slew of pets and homes and renovations and all sorts of changes.
I still blog regularly. I don’t write organic posts three times a week anymore. Actually, that’s not true! I do write sponsored posts but the rest are unpaid. I only do one soul-searching, deep-writing a week and that’s because I gotta pay the bills and take care of the kids and pets and house.
I will probably never stop. I’m so glad we still “visit” each other weekly.

November 1, 2021 at 9:31 amThank you, Tamara! 🙂 One of my favorite Steely Dan songs. 11 years for you! Wow, and your blog has really taken off. I’m in awe of how well you keep up your blogging schedule. I adore your Friday posts and your thoughtful introspection. Also, your photos are so beautiful! I don’t know how you do it with your full household. And now baby You Know Who on their way!! So exciting!
Me, too–I’m delighted we’ve connected and remained so in the last decade 😀

November 1, 2021 at 9:27 amI made it…so far 😉 Sometimes we need to take a break. I have taken unintentional breaks. At least yours was planned. I hope you’re enjoying more time in your garden and with your sweet fur-babies. I have missed your blog very much and looking forward to your return (no pressure). So the blue light glasses don’t work so much?
The fire was in our apartment building. It started two units down on our floor around 2:00 am. So we were awakened by the fire alarm. Actually my husband smelled smoke first and woke me up and the alarm sounded shortly after. The hallway was thick with smoke as we made our way down the stairs. So, it was a pretty scary experience overall. Luckily we were able to have our furniture and clothes restored to rid them of the smoke smell. It happened 9 years ago on Friday, July 13th. 🙁
Anyway, it was an experience that brought lots of enlightenment along with it.

October 31, 2021 at 2:35 amWow, 10 years! That’s a ride and a good one! I am so happy to be part of it Lisa.
Life is moving and we do change. I started blogging in order to share parts of my life and then poetry came, and a divorce, a child, a new start.
Looking forward reading chapters of your new book. I loved the last one!
Keep writing, sharing your passion.
Much love. xoxo

October 30, 2021 at 9:47 amThank you, Chrys! I hadn’t really thought too much about it but then it’s a good excuse to reminisce a bit. You’re right behind me! I’m sure we met in your first year.
Thanks for letting me know. Good to hear it’s eye catching. The book is a humorous one, and so I tried to capture that. 🙂

October 29, 2021 at 3:07 pmHappy blog anniversary! My “Sage” blog will be 17 years old in December! It’s always been semi-anonymous. Your daughter looks a lot like you. At first I thought that might have been you, ten years earlier!
lisa
October 29, 2021 at 3:24 pmThank you, Jeff! Wow, that is quite the feat! Semi-anonymous. That’s interesting! I will check it out (I gather it is different than the one I’ve been visiting). Oh, thank you and you’re too kind. If that was me ten years ago, I’d still be young…haha!

October 29, 2021 at 1:49 pmGood for you Lisa. I have blogged for 14 years. Wow has blogging been fun to watch for this long as it changed quite a bit.
lisa
October 29, 2021 at 3:22 pmThat’s quite an accomplishment, Ryan! Congratulations 😀 Yes, it really has changed and one thing I’ve learned is that I can’t quite keep up with the SEO and techy trends. But here we are. Thanks for stopping over!
