Gratitude can strike at any time. Mostly they are the small moments and little things said that matter the most to me. Here is my list of moments when I feel grateful;
1. When he takes my hand in bed snuggling in to take a nap. He needs my hand…the simple connection.
2. When my daughter reads the letter I wrote her in 1993 (on her first birthday) for the very first time, twenty years later. She cries. I cry. Happy tears.
3. When I see the pink sunset through my window in winter.
4. When he says, “I understand. It’s not fair. It must really hurt.”
5. When he says, “Thanks Mom. I’m sorry I wasn’t very peppy when I saw you”…he shows me he cares about being his best.
6. When we look at her baby book for the first time together and I tell her one day she’ll be interested in her weight and height measurements.
7. When my step-son says “Lisa, have you tried_____?” He shows me he cares and has ideas to make my life easier and help me achieve my goals.
8. When she asks me “What’s happening with you?” and settles in for a long chat.
9. When I nail Warrior 2. I hold it for longer than a full minute and marvel at my body’s capabilities. My strength.
10. When I remind myself I don’t take medications for anything at all, I bless my health by saying a silent thank you to the universe.
11. When I sip my first cup of coffee each and every morning.
12. When I pick up a paint brush loaded with bright color, I thank the universe for the time I have to play with paint. To create.

February 28, 2020 at 9:57 amThese are amazing! I love those hand-holding snuggling naps. Sometimes I’m full out strung across Cassidy, but sometimes I’m not feeling well or it’s hot and I just take his hand or put my feet against his to show affection.
The medication one is great! I was at a doctor appointment yesterday and they were reading my file of medications I take: “Multi-vitamins, various gummy vitamins, and the occasional Flonase?”
Yes. That sums it up right now.

February 29, 2020 at 9:39 amThank you, Tamara. I’m not one to often share my gratitude online…not sure why. Yes, I love that you can be both and everything in between. Haha, that’s quite a heavy list of meds you have there. You forgot to add rainbow sprinkles for the winter blues 😀

February 27, 2020 at 7:33 amI love this! Sometimes it really is the smallest things, but it’s good to remember them and feel gratitude. I love that your daughter read the letter you wrote her on her first birthday 20 years later – what a lovely moment.

February 27, 2020 at 8:49 amThank you, Lauren! Yes that was a special moment. I had written the letter before her first birthday party with the idea that she could open it on her 18th birthday. As it turned out she was a bit older when I got it out for her. She asked to see her baby book and it was tucked in there. She loved it. It was a special moment because we have had our ups and downs but what mother and daughter don’t—am I right? 😛

Moments of joy may fleet but they make a cosy corner in our heart that glows whenever we walk down the memory lane. Thanks for sharing this heart-warming post, a good reminder that life has been kind despite some setbacks. Stay blessed.
