Even the whales are angry at us. Mankind has really screwed up. We really have. And I wish I wasn’t posting this because it’s would be more fun to write about almost anything else.
However the disrespect that we have shown mother earth, as a collective human race, is beyond despicable. I am still ignorant. I don’t have answers. Changing my corner of the world for myself has been my goal. Little changes.
The thing is though, much damage has been done. Just like we did to our skin in the 70’s, laying in the sun without protection. Even goading the sun goddess by slathering baby oil on ourselves to scorch our skin quicker. The level of ignorance in each past decade is cringe worthy. But let’s talk about today. Now.
We have had smoke filled skies and a health advisory in place for poor air quality, for four days in a row. That’s nothing in the big picture but it sure feels like something. We take clean air for granted.
With forest fires raging in Oregon and California, I can’t even imagine what their air quality is like there. It has spilled over to our locale due to the wind direction. So, we are all connected in case you hadn’t noticed by now. That’s why we all care about POTUS even if we are not citizens of the United States, right?
Even the whales are angry at us. There have been incidents recently where whales have attacked sail boats off the coast of Spain. It’s been determined that these are deliberate attacks. They aren’t looking for food—duh. They can’t eat boats and they find food underwater.
So, what’s up with the angry whales? It’s important to note their intelligence levels. They are in the dolphin family so on the animal intelligence meter, they are second to none. They must have a knowing of what is happening to them. Fear of extinction has been speculated but even scientists can’t unravel this—yet.
Also, the fact that these attacks began to fishing boats, an Orca expert has speculated the idea that the competition for the same food may have some bearing on the orca pod’s behavior. But that doesn’t explain the attacks on yachts and sailboats.
It’s a mystery but it’s also easy to conclude that the Orcas are suffering stress due to man’s actions. Whether it’s fishing, the thinning of their food source, or the species nearing extinction—one thing is for sure. The whales are angry. I don’t blame them. We need to get our shit together.
If you do one thing today, make it good for mother earth.

September 15, 2020 at 1:28 amIt’s absolutely terrifying to be a part of, and I wish that it were easier to backtrack from the mistakes that we have made as humankind. I feel like the animals and the earth are absolutely the innocent ones in this, and it’s disgusting that this is all our fault and that it’s rarely affecting us – it’s them that it hurts. Powerful post.

September 15, 2020 at 11:23 amMe, too. Not possible though unfortunately. And we’d been warned decades ago. You’re absolutely right, Amy. We are the last to be affected. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, appreciate your weighing in.

September 14, 2020 at 11:49 amAll the love, Lisa. The wildfires are horrifying to me, and they come back every year. When will the US get our heads out of our a$$es and do something about climate change. My heart aches…and I have friends and their families scattered across the West coast and it’s just awful.
Just trying to do our part in my little corner…every little thing makes a difference right? Of course the whales are mad at us. They have every right to be.

September 14, 2020 at 1:49 pmThank you, Jane. Yes, especially bad right now and hearing that one in California started because of people setting off a gender reveal ‘bomb’…so stupid. I hope your friends and family are okay and will come out unscathed.
Yes, and doing a little bit in our corner helps. Those whales know. xxoo
