What’s happening in your month of March, Escapees? My title says don’t tell, but it doesn’t mean I don’t want you to tell me everything. For almost four years I’ve been doing the talking…turning my thoughts inside out…attempting to be funny…providing useless valuable tips. I love it.
The past few months have been eventful, disturbing, stressful, joyful and everything in between. You may have noticed when I was getting well into The Martini Diaries-my latest sub blog, it disappeared. I took it down. Don’t ask. Don’t tell. Silence. Denial. No apologies.
Suffice to say the disturbing part of the last few months has to do with an ongoing situation that has escalated. Escapees, if there is one thing I’ve learned from my divorce, it’s to recognize when you’re being treated as a door mat. Know when you’re being fooled and cheated and in that case, know how to stand up for yourself. I will likely share more on that later. For now, this bitch is getting stuff done…
Don’t ask, don’t tell? I’ve had enough of that.
In the meantime, isn’t life amazing? The changing seasons I see right outside my window never cease to amaze me in their brilliance. The delicate flowers blooming early in spring can take much abuse and still show their beauty. They withstand the cold wind and rain, even thrive because of it. We have so much to look forward to and the Spring season always brings that to the forefront. Hope. Light. Flowers. Sunsets. Hope, did I mention hope?
Shed heavy for light. Trade black for white. Warmth for the cold. Walk in the sun, not the rain.
“She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”
A.A. Milne, When We Were Very Young
Winter is dead.
When I take my first sip of coffee (I warned you this would include random thoughts) in the morning I remember how simple things can bring pleasure. This harmless drug gets me started and keeps me going. Caffeine. No matter what’s on my mind, coffee helps sort it. It helps me string together words.
Did you know that my Divorce-sary (divorce anniversary) is coming up? It will be 10 years since I left. Believe me in that ten years I have learned some crazy lessons.
So, ya Spring, coffee and appreciating the little things and facing the big challenges make it all worthwhile.
What’s happening for you this week? This month? Are you getting some spring weather yet? What gets you through your day and how do you face your challenges? Do you have a divorce-sary?
I’ll ask, you tell!
Leave a comment, I LOVE ’em!

March 31, 2015 at 1:12 pmI love the Tina Fey quote you chose for this post. Bitches do get things done. I know because my month of March included publishing my book, which, if you ask any of the family members described within, will tell you it was published by a Bitch! (I believe they’d capitalize the B.) I admire what you’ve done. I know it’s not easy to write about real life but it is often more interesting than fiction. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m subscribing to yours now and expect to enjoy lots more of your fine work.

March 25, 2015 at 12:17 pmHi Lisa,
I do believe you have the right attitude my dear. Happy anniversary coming up too. I celebrated 25 years last December, I’ve never looked back. 😉
I will say that spring has arrived here and boy am I happy. I don’t enjoy cold weather so bring on the sun and the warmth and I’m a very happy camper.
This month has been good for me but have had a few family things to deal with. They’ll work themselves out though, they always do.
Enjoy the rest of your week and take care.

March 23, 2015 at 6:36 amThank god that winter has finally died. It was lingering much too long here in the Garden State (and there are still remnants of it on my lawn, hmph!). Coffee helps me get through my day, too.I honestly have no idea how I’d get through life without it.
Ten years! That’s quite an anniversary! Maybe it’s time to write a book (or a very long blog post) about what you’ve learned in that time (hint hint) 😉
Much love to you; and hope you have a wonderful week!
lisa
March 23, 2015 at 8:44 amYou’ve had the longest winter this year! Ha! Yes, I wrote that book…now it’s time for the second one 🙂 Have a great week, Charlotte!

March 23, 2015 at 4:21 amIt snowed on the first day of Spring (just to mess with our heads) but this morning it’s sunny and the snow has melted. Thank god Spring is finally here!
lisa
March 23, 2015 at 8:43 amI love it when the snow melts and tiny bits of green grass start to shoot up. Then the daffodils and tulips show their heads…ah, Spring! Lighter coats, longer days…it’s all good.

March 19, 2015 at 12:57 pmI LOVE that Tina Fey quote! I want to give you a high five for getting stuff done and doing what you have to do, Lisa. Don’t ever let anyone stop you! And always stand up for yourself. You’ve got this! 🙂
Florida has hopped over spring and went straight to summer. It’s HOT here! I wish it was cooler so I could enjoy real spring weather.
lisa

i gave up coffee a couple years ago because of a medical condition. that was a hard one! on a rare occasion i indulge on a 1/2 cup and savor every drop.
winter is dead!
lisa
March 18, 2015 at 7:53 pmThank you for the hug, Tracie. I feel your warmth from across the miles and appreciate your support! I would have a tough time giving up caffeine 🙁 I hope you can enjoy tea instead. Hope your days are getting a little longer now with the tilt of the planet.

March 17, 2015 at 7:24 pmHi Lisa,
I salute your positive thoughts but my heart cries out for the pain that you snub with your choice of words. You are so right…why should any body treat you like a door mat? And yes, bitches do have a special skill because there is the difference of just one syllable if we replace it with W!
It is good to be happy that ‘winter is dead’…lets not forget winter keeps coming back and life is full of coldness, which makes us appreciate sunshine.
Thank you for these random thoughts Lisa, they make a wonderful reading.
lisa
March 18, 2015 at 7:51 pmHi Balroop, oh yes, bitch with special powers…I love it. Winter is dead, for now. I appreciate winter but I embrace the lighter days and flowers blooming this time of year!
Thanks for your encouragement, Balroop. I always appreciate your support and thoughtful comments.

March 17, 2015 at 7:40 amBitches get stuff done, LOVE IT!;-) Enjoy that coffee, and pieces of white, and rays of sunshine! It’s supposed to actually get in the 50’s today in NYC, so I’m going to take full advantage and get outside a bit. It’s been a long, cold winter, indeed.
lisa
March 17, 2015 at 12:14 pmYes, it’s been a cold one for you East coasters. We’ve had a mild one, not to brag or anything 😉 Thanks, Jess I’ll definitely enjoy my coffee. It’s time for a second cup today!
