Do you love him? he asked
Yes, she answered a little too quickly
He could see through her lies
And her phony goodbyes
He touched her hand
His heart flickered
And he saw into her soul
His twin flame alight
Yet she withdrew
Took a stance against love
Turned away and broke the tie
Unbound, she wept for no one
And cried out in protest
For love was a foreign land
She knew well
Nothing could be bought
And what’s broken
Stopped time

July 25, 2023 at 6:15 amThis is such a powerful, thought-provoking poem, Lisa. Love is hard, and the decisions you make in love are also equally as hard. As Balroop said in the comments, so true how body language can be understood by true lovers. It’s such a wonderful connection when someone understands you and notices the little things, almost a telepathic connection even. Yet sometimes things are always much harder and complicated than they seem – so many layers to relationships and each of us as individuals. Very nice to read your work again, Lisa. Hope you have been doing well and enjoying Summer 😊

July 3, 2023 at 7:19 amVery nice and powerful poem Lisa.
Sometimes we do feel we have to, leave someone behind, for so many reasons. Sometimes it’s tough though.
ps: well done on your novel Lisa! Can’t wait to read more about it. Till then take care!

July 3, 2023 at 6:14 pmThank you, Marie! Nice to see you. Yes, indeed and it’s not an easy decision to be faced with. Often we’re not prepared for it. Well, thank you so much, Marie. I will post an excerpt of the novel once it’s been edited to within it’s bones–LOL. Take care!

June 22, 2023 at 7:32 pmMore clever than all the rest
She saw into my soul
Twin flames alight
Yet I withdrew
Voices carry
What if
I so love your poem – inspired – now part of my own “left behind” story. Congrats on the novel Lisa — can’t wait to read it.

June 23, 2023 at 6:17 amYes, nicely interwoven words. You’ve made it your own (story). What if?
This poem also makes me think of, “What are you going to do, Ali?” -Noah, from the movie The Notebook.
The moment. The decision.
Thanks, Kevin! I hope you like the novel. I’m anxious to get the pro-editing started.

June 22, 2023 at 8:24 pmThat’s the thing! Timing is everything. Being devastated, devastating someone. It happens and it’s painful. You ended up with your twin flame! Destiny, I think.

June 22, 2023 at 9:58 amWhat a lovely way to convey how body language can be understood by true lovers. The subtle suggestion of her being wary of love has been expressed superbly Lisa. Beautiful poetry Lisa. Keep it up!
