Narcissists Unable to Lose (5 Behaviors to Expect)

Reading time approx 8 minutes

It won’t surprise you to read that narcissists are unable to concede to loss of anything—big or small. Taking Trump’s inability to accept the recent vote and his loss to Biden, sets up a perfect case study. As I read the Washington Post’s article and full audio transcript of Trump’s call to Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, I recognize all the typical signs of a narcissist’s inability to concede to loss.

On a more personal level, from my own experience, a narcissist cannot accept being wrong in any way. They are only angered by facts that interfere with their own self aggrandizing or wishful thinking.

The Wine Diaries Playlist

Well, we’re winding down another year, Sleevers! It’s been one of the most challenging for all of us but we’re still here and finding silver linings has never been more important.

In closing out the year, I’ve put together an uplifting, emotional and empowering playlist for The Wine Diaries-Musings On Divorce Paired With Wine. And believe me when I say, I took my time making this playlist. I went back and removed songs and

Fa-la-la-la la-la la-laaaa. Tis the season to be…

Waiting in line in the shops for hours

Staying six feet apart from other shoppers

Ode to Air

Ode to Air

I wrote this little poem as a challenge: Choose one element and write about it. I chose AIR and VERSE.

What element attracts you? Water, fire, earth or air? I tend toward water but Air is my birth sign…so I chose her.

Air is breath of life, our souls. It is the power harnessed to create energy. It is also the ‘mother of thought’ and corresponds to communication and the colors yellow and white.

Currently Watching, Reading, Doing

Gosh, where has November gone? Even though I’ve been operating on low-key status, the month still has flown by. While I should be editing my latest manuscript, I’ve been creating instead. Also, guiltily, I’ve been watching Netflix, HBO and FX and a little Colbert and Myers on the side.

So, not the most productive time in my life but also giving myself a break as I wrote about last week in Thinking About…Things.

Thinking About…Things #Grief #selfcare

Still here. It’s been quiet here at the blog. Even on my social channels I haven’t been interacting much. I certainly haven’t been creating brilliant thoughts or beautiful pictures I want to share with the world…which leaves me feeling a bit disconnected. But I could say I’m feeling more connected with myself. That’s not a bad thing.

Book Review, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man

by , on
November 2, 2020

A must read. Too Much and Never Enough by Mary L. Trump paints a nuanced picture of a DYSFUNCTIONAL family and the consequences of raising a son who answers to no one and gets everything he wants.

“The World’s Most Dangerous Man” as the author coins him, is now the POTUS without a conscience. Donald Trump, second son of Fred Trump Sr., has risen in the political ranks with a seemingly empty soul. He’s demolished businesses and people along the way. Mary, also a psychologist, sheds light on how he came to be and what it cost her and her father.

God Stole Pink From the Sky Today

God Stole Pink From the Sky Today

God Stole Pink From the Sky Today

When I heard the news
You’re gone forever,
Sister, I stared into space
Shocked and in pain.

“God stole pink from the sky today,”
Is all I could think to say.
Your favorite lipstick color
Imprinted on my brain.

You used to say “Get on your broom
And fly over to see me.”
We’d laugh at our absurdity.

It’s true I looked to you
For comfort of your familiar face.
Maybe we didn’t always agree
But we turned to each other in times of misery.

Maternal losses only sisters comprehend.
The gravity of life, the frustration of not being heard
Again and again.

Your laugh always preceded you
Announcing your arrival in any place.
“Deb’s here,” we’d say—“the party can begin.”

Know that you are impossible to forget
The twinkle of laughter, the cry of your tears.
We went through this life together
Like a spiral still connected
In those empty spaces
Turned into years.

God stole pink from the sky today
But soon I will see you in each and every sunset.
Raspberry-red wine, cloudy and glowing
Mirrors your memory
Forever in mine.
